Taking the time to winterize your your outside hose bibb (spigot) will save you from a potentially damaging disaster next spring. In just a few minutes your can complete the process.
The first thing to do is find your hose bibb shut off valve. It will be located in the house. Turn it off. Then, remove the garden hose (if connected) from the outside hose bibb.
Open the hose bibb to allow the water in the water pipe to drain out and drain the vacuum breaker.
Go back to the shut off valve in your home and remove the bleed valve (located on the shut off valve).
Your done!! Just remember to leavethe hose bibb open. Next spring, put the bleed valve back on the shut off valve before turning the hose bibb line on (if you don't--you'll be reminded very quickly). Enjoy the winter weather and have fun!!!
